ORGANIST POSITION AVAILABLE

Start Date: October 21, 2018 (Negotiable).

 

Instrument: Allen Digital Computer Organ with twin memories that provide a total of 56 separate registrations. More detailed information is available upon request. Sanctuary seats approximately 225.  Average weekly attendance: 150.

Organist Duties: Must be available to play liturgical services on Sundays at 8:30 & 11:00 am, Midweek Advent at 7:00 pm and Lenten Services at 12:00 noon & 7:00 pm, and other special services such as Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Ascension Day. The Organist may, but is not obligated to, play at other special services such as weddings and funerals. (Compensation for funerals and for weddings - negotiable) will be paid separate from regular pay, and directly by those who request services. The Pastor will plan the worship services (hymns & liturgy) using Lutheran Service Book and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) three-year lectionary; and the organist will be responsible for planning appropriate pre-service, offertory, and post-service music, based on the appropriate season and theme of the day. No choral music or midweek rehearsals are required (This is taken care of by our current Music Director). The organist may be asked to accompany an occasional soloist. Training is available for organists who are unfamiliar with Lutheran liturgies and hymnody.

Supervision: Organist will report to and be supervised by the Pastor. Compensation: $ 100.00 per service. (Reviewed annually).  No benefits.  Paid monthly.

Vacation: There is no specific time or certain weeks set aside or accrued for vacation.  If a Sunday is requested off a replacement organist will be available to cover. Time off may not be taken during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Holy Week, and Easter. The organist must notify the Pastor at least 30 days before taking vacation.
